Giving Tuesday is one of our favorite days in the year. It reminds of what’s really important during the Holiday Season. It reminds us that, while we’re busy buying gifts for the most important people in our lives, we should remember to also find ways to give back to our community. We’ve all heard the phrase “it takes a village,” and a lot of times we don’t take that sentiment to heart. Well, we’re taking that sentiment seriously this year and we’re giving back to our community. We’re helping the “village” of non-profits that are continuing to make positive local impacts. And if you haven’t yet decided how you can give back this year, we’ve made it a little easier for you with a list of five non-profits we love to support!
Camp Cole
The story of how Camp Cole came about is an inspiring one, and it touched our hearts to hear of Cole and his mother, Stacy. Finding a way to be a beacon of light and hope is a beautiful thing. And we love working with everyone at Camp Cole as they are realizing Stacy’s dream of bringing the camp experience that Cole loved to others in need of the experiences he had. And with so many ways to donate and help grow the Camp Cole dream – from camper scholarships to the riding program to memorials and dedications – there are no wrong ways to give. As they say at Camp Cole, “Be A Reason Others Can Shine.“
United Way of the Midlands
United Way of the Midlands is enacting positive change in our community through promoting stability, enhancing education, and providing healthcare. Basically, if there’s something you’re passionate about, the great folks at United Way of the Midlands can use your help. Not every donation requires money; sometimes all that’s required is a little bit of your time. So, this Holiday Season, consider a donation to United Way of the Midlands – where one small act can make a big difference.
Central Carolina Community Foundation
The Central Carolina Community Foundation is an amazing organization for philanthropy. If you want to help the community but don’t know where to start, this is a great place! They link charitable people (that’s you) with organizations that need help. Trust us – giving back could not be easier. Their “giving” page tells you all you need to know to become the philanthropist you’ve always wanted to be.
Make-A-Wish
The Make-A-Wish foundation is pretty much a household name nowadays. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t an important non-profit doing some pretty astounding things. And the impact of a Wish does so much for not just the person receiving the Wish, but the community feels that positive impact as well – a Wish can bring so many people together to help inspire strength and courage in a child fighting an illness. Donating is easy. And so is bringing a group of friends together who donate as a team to help a child in need.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is one of the most well-recognized non-profits on this list, especially this time of year. And just about everyone can recognize those red kettles and hear the bell ringers among the hustle and bustle of Holiday shopping. But if you’re not going out as much this year but still want to put some “spare change” into the red kettle, they’ve made that easy for you with a virtual red kettle. And there’s still the option to donate in someone’s honor or memory, if that’s more your thing.
There’s a saying that you should “be the change you wish to see in the world.” How about we start this year? Let’s be a beautiful change. A change for love and community and giving. And let’s carry it all the way through the Holiday Season. Let’s carry it all the way into 2021. Be the change you want to see in the world.
